Have you heard about that string orchestra that plays the music of Tool? Well, that’s my orchestra! And they’re called Arcora!
Arcora is a 14-piece string orchestra, backed by a drummer, pianist and vocalist. It is a small orchestra, but it sounds epic! To get away from a traditional string orchestra performance, I orchestrated the music of one of my all time favorite progressive rockbands: TOOL. Why Tool? Because their music is simply amazing. The structure of the songs show an incredible amount of craftsmanship, the textures translate well to string orchestra, the many different rhythms are fun to play and the riffs and melodies are both beautiful and violent. I just love it!
Arcora in Brussels
We played a show in Brussels (Kraainem) last saturday and it was a great experience. Lot’s of people came to check us out! It had been a while since our last show so we were extra excited to play! All the musicians were ready to give it their all and you could really hear that! As a conductor and producer, I couldn’t be more satisfied with how everything turned out. We hope that more venues will hear of this project because we want to show the world what an orchestra is capable of besides playing classical music!
