A Fantasy Duel is an orchestral piece that I wrote with some Disney action scenes in mind. The piece goes back and forth between dark, mysterious and hopeful orchestral gestures. Check it out to hear wether or not our fictional hero will win the Fantasy Duel or not!
Even when I was growing up and watching the Disney classics, I always felt inspired by the music in these awesome movies! I mean, who doesn’t remember many of the great tunes from Aladdin, The Lion King, Peter Pan, and so on. Even the new Disney scores still inspire a great deal! The recent music of the Maleficent remake by James Newton Howard for instance. All of these scores are in the same line of great Disney tradition. I couldn’t resist exploring these sounds and composition techniques, so I started imagining a typical Disney duel and started writing.
I think it is really fun to compose music in this style because there are so many colors that you can use and even the “Villain”-parts are still made with a wink. Creating a track like this one really triggers your inner child and while writing it you actually are the hero (or villain for that matter). You’re in the middle of the action and you can steer your fantasy in any direction you want. The freedom here is something I truly embrace.
I hope you enjoy it! And if you do, please share it with your friends!
